IPTV

Internet Protocol Television, or IPTV, is the latest way to get content to your TV.  It is still early days for broadcasters and only early adopting consumers are frequently accessing content this way.  In fact, most consumers who do use it are not even aware that it goes by that name.  To them it is just content accessed over the internet and normally watched on their computers.  Who cares how it got there?

The next big step is for that content to be readily available on their TV set and optimised for that platform.  There will be lots of ways of doing this - set-top boxes with internet connections, for example, or games consoles doubling as media servers.

For the consumer it will mean even more choice, and they will express that choice by going with the very best content available.  History shows that they will be happy to pay for that content as long as they get great value for money.  In most cases that will mean video content, but games will be right up there and will range from the major titles common on the consoles today through to casual games played on whatever hardware comes to hand, be it a set-top box, media server or even the TV itself.

At Waterfront we are focused on the consumer experience and that means content that is entertaining, compulsive, and right for the platform.  Our experience at building interactive TV games for leading companies, in technical environments that are often very restricted, means that we are well positioned to work with any broadcaster or channel to add first class casual games to their product offering.
